PUBLIC NOTICE!!! Unless you have been living under a rock, you have noticed the recent boom in the popularity of MMA and combat sports. Unfortunately, this has led in an extreme growth in unscrupulous and unqualified instructors suddenly offering "Mixed Martial Arts" instruction. These instructors, simply looking to make a quick buck on the latest martial arts fad, are no better than a thief or a doctor operating without a license. They are taking people's hard earned money and offering unsafe training and ineffective techniques.

Many of these so-called MMA "coaches" have simply purchased a DVD or two or maybe they've splurged and bought a whole set of DVD's to try to learn just enough to bluff the unknowing public. These instructors usually have little to no background whatsoever in the arts that are commonly known to make up what is now known as Mixed Martial Arts, the combat sport. Here's a hint: your local "karate dojo" does NOT know MMA.

TEAM AFS Brings Home 2 Muay Thai Wins!!!

Saturday, May 17th, 2008- Team AFS's own Jessamyn Duke and Bobby Handy traveled with Khun Kru Elliott to Arkansas to fight in a Muay Thai event sanctioned by the USMTA and brought back two big wins.

Jess won a unanimous decision over Lindsay Scheer after a 3 round war. This was only Jess's debut fight and was able to score a decisive victory over Scheer who had a record of 6-2 and held a WKA and a USKA title. A great start for her career, only to get better as she gets more experience.

Bobby's fight ended in the second round with a TKO after breaking his opponent's nose with a barrage of vicious kicks, punches and knees. This was also Bobby's debut fight. Way to start off with a bang Bobby!
